This sculptural lounge chair reimagines the traditional softness of tufted upholstery through the unexpected medium of solid marble.

The stone is a Calacatta P Acquabianca marble quarried from the the Apuan Alps in Tuscany, Italy.

Milled with robotic precision, the chair’s surface features a pillow-like texture that mimics the bevels of tufted fabric. The result creates a striking juxtaposition: a material historically associated with permanence and monumentality is transformed into something sensuous, and almost pliant in appearance.

Blending advanced digital fabrication techniques with traditional craftsmanship, the texture of the chair challenges our perceptions of comfort, materiality, and the boundaries between the digital and the handmade.

The pouf is designed to  accommodate different body sizes and positions.

The Stone Pouf was exhibited as part of the Mano e Macchina, la mostra delle opere. Digital Stone Project 2025, edizione XI in Barga, Tusany, Italy and was executed in partnership with the Digital Stone Project as part of the 2025 Digital Stone Carving Residency.
